Happy Birthday Hectic Harmony!!

Happy Birthday!  Happy Anniversary!  Whatever it is, it’s been a year!

Wowzers!  Time has gone by so fast that I’m even a day late for HH’s birthday!  One year!  A whole year!  Jeezy peezy.

I originally started this blog because I have kept a journal most of my life and I wanted to do a form of that again.  I have always wanted to write a book as well, and so I thought blogging could be practice for that.  Although, I don’t have much time to write and it doesn’t look like my book will be coming out anytime soon.  I am a big sharer so blogging makes a lot of sense to me.  I read lots of blogs and I have enjoyed writing this one.  (Can I say the word blog any more?!!)  I named this baby Hectic Harmony because my life is full of both.  Some hectic times and some harmonious times.  I thought it had a ring.  Ding!

I started out on WordPress.com and it was a labor of love.  I was writing five times a week in the beginning to get some material on the table and to build an audience.  My babies were little but they would go right to sleep, not this get back up a couple times bull-crap, and I would stay up until 1 a.m. every night reading and writing.  Then I had the bright idea to move to self hosting, and lost all of my followers.  (Big thumbs down!!)  It was a VERY frustrating time for me, and I was on the phone a lot with my dear friend David Webb who helped me with the set up of this very tricky, blog template that I chose.  Usually you can customize things yourself, but I chose a difficult one for even the most experienced of web designers.  So needless to say, I won’t be changing anything anytime soon.  I would like to add some more pictures to the gallery and maybe add a page or something?  It’s not all worked out in my head yet.  If you have suggestions or ideas, leave me a comment or email!  I’d love to hear them!

Anyways, I am really happy with the blog, I just wish that I had more time to dedicate to the writing for it.  I really enjoy it, even though it tends to be a lot of work for me because I have to reread it a billion times to make sure I like it and it makes sense.  I’ve learned a lot along the way about computers and about writing in general, so I hope to progress with both as I continue on.  I try to make it so it’s something I would want to read and keep up with too.  I want you to hear my voice as you read, or a voice rather.  I want it to speak to you.  I don’t want it to be a chore to get through and it would be really awesome if you learned something from it once in a while.  I don’t get a ton of comments on the blog, but it’s funny how people will text me or tell me instead how a blog post affected them.  It blows me away when I can touch someone emotionally with a post, or if they discover a new band, song, book, or whatever because of Hectic Harmony.  That’s the power of sharing man!

This project is something that brings me joy and that I am proud of.  I know it’s not the best blog in the world, but it’s my blog  :)

I thought I’d share (or remind) you of the very first post from way back when a year ago.  Why Is The Power Out?

Thank you for reading my blog.

Thank you for liking my blog.

Thank you for your time.

I hope to start getting more feedback in the future….please don’t be shy.  It’s just me reading what you think of what I wrote.  No big deal.

I read it and enjoy it! I am not sure I could find the time to do it, but I’m sure it is therapeutic in a way. Keep up the good work. :)

    Happy B-day HH!
Congratulations on stayin’ alive. Half the battle with writing a book–with writing anything that matters to you, really–is convincing yourself that you can do it (so you really WILL do it, not just think and talk and dream about doing it.) So look at you! One year of keeping at it.
