Miike Snow

A few of years ago, my buddy Nate made me a couple of Cd’s.  They were a bunch of different artists; Matt and Kim, Passion Pit, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, and Miike Snow.  I have listened to the Cd’s a lot but I probably haven’t in the past couple of months.  Every few weeks I go to the library and I pick a couple of Cd’s to listen to.  It’s pretty cool because you can check out up to 100 items and it’s free (as long as nothing becomes overdue!).  So, I’ll get like 4-5 Cd’s along with our books and that’s what we listen to in the van.  We have a 6 disc CD changer in the van and there’s usually a kid’s CD in disc 6 and Full Hundred Band in disc 1.

The library doesn’t have the hugest selection, but they have been getting more music in over the years.  It’s a good way to listen to the albums that you wouldn’t necessarily want to buy but wouldn’t mind hearing.  They even will have stuff that’s kind of recent that came out a year ago.  In fact, I just finished listening to the 2011 Bob Marley Live Forever: Stanley Theatre 2 Disc CD set just now.  Miike snow cd

So this time I saw the Miike Snow Cd and grabbed it.  I’ve heard some of their music from Nate’s CD’s and their songs would play at the bar a lot when I used to work.  But I’ve really gotten to know the music from listening to it over and over again for the past three weeks.  It’s grown on me quite a bit and I really like it.  Lance likes it too which is surprising because he doesn’t usually stray away from his reggae tunes.

Miike Snow is a Swedish band that formed in 2007.  The self titled CD came out in 2009 on the Downtown Records label.  The band is comprised of three writer/producers, Chris Karlsson, Pontus Winnberg, and Andrew Wyatt.  Karlsson and Winnberg are also known as the production team Bloodshy and Avant. They have worked with many international artists but are commonly known for their production of Britney Spears’ hit “Toxic” which won a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording in 2005.

Their 2nd LP Happy To You just released on March 26, 2012.  You can check it out on iTunes and sample the songs or they have a couple of videos up on YouTube.  I’m posting one of their popular songs Animal off of their first album below and then the second video will be a song called The Wave off the new album.  Enjoy!

I find that my interest in music is cyclic. Every few months I’m really digging on a certain genre of music and then it completely changes soon after. Why can’t we all just get along?!?!? :-)

Thanks for the tip about the library. I’m going to have to check out what mine has. My taste in music is pretty varied as well. 2012 has not disappointed me yet. Lots of great releases.
