My Green Juice Experiment

the green juiceI’m not the type of gal that makes wonderful concoctions up in the kitchen when I cook something.  I need directions.  I probably read the directions 3 times before I do what it says to do.  I don’t know why, I am just so funny about following directions while cooking.  I just can’t figure out what things should go together, and I’d rather just do what the recipe says instead of figuring it out myself.  So, when it comes to smoothies and drinks, it’s the same deal.  I need directions.  Whenever I used to get a protein shake at the gym, I would memorize the recipe, so that I could make it again at home one day.  (I was in love with this one peanut butter crunch drink-omg, so good!) The First Forest

I LOVE reading.  Love it.  I think I really fell in love with it in high school when I took an English class where we studied Shakespeare.  It was one of those classes where you had to read a chapter or two every night and the next day you would break everything down and discuss what every phrase meant.  It was so deep and emotional and I really connected with it.  I then began to collect my own books and started my own library.  There has always been thrift book stores in every town that I have lived in and I have loaded up on books from places like that.  Oh, and the smells and the looks of old books especially, make me high.  I really love an old, used book.  When I first moved to Baltimore, around age 24 I lived in the city and I was walking distance to a bookstore that was free called The Book Thing.  You donate to them, and you are allowed to take as many books that you want for free.  It is a great non-profit and they are still in the city to this day. Bob Dylan

Yesterday, I was doing some research on some skin care items and I was looking up ‘the best‘ products.  My mind wandered off and I thought to myself, ‘I wonder what the best song ever is.’  So, I asked my dear friend Google.  I googled: best song of all time.    There are several lists to choose from and I went with the first list which was the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time by Rolling Stone Magazine.  They chose Bob Dylan’s, ‘Like A Rolling Stone.’ Read more →

Photo Shoot with Zhenia

March 4, 2012

It was photo shoot time again yesterday with Zhenia.  She is doing a photo series on our family for a project at an art school.  She is very talented and I really enjoy working with her.  Her sister Natalie is her stylist and always has amazing clothes picked out for us to wear.  High end brand name items that I love but cannot afford.  It is fun playing dress up!!  I do my own hair and makeup, which is a labor of love sometimes because I find styling hair to be difficult.  In the end it’s all worth it because we end up with beautiful pictures and fun experiences.  These pictures will be hung in our house and then in our childrens’ homes when they are older.  We’re building a part of our legacy.  We even got to include Akira in the shoot yesterday  :) Read more →

Why is the Power Out?

03 Mar
March 3, 2012

Our power went off yesterday around 2:30pm.  It was no big deal, just kind of a bother because I had some chicken cooking in the crock pot.  It ended up staying off for 3 hours, so we ended up changing our dinner plans.  It reminded me of losing power this past summer for 3 or 4 days.  Lance mentioned it to me and I had almost totally forgotten about the experience.
