November-Lung Cancer Awareness Month

Hello everyone!!  It has been a while since I have been able to sit down to write.  As you know my time is limited and I have been busy prepping for jobs, making lots of food, doing lots of laundry and wiping lots of hineys.  We just had the Superstorm Sandy pass through and I am hoping it is finding all of you safe and warm.  We lost power for 26 hours and I know that there are still a ton of people without power.  It is so sad to see and hear of the damage from this storm.  I am hoping to give some blood soon and to donate to some places that need it.  (Places that need clothes, furniture, and toys for children, etc.)  While thinking about what I can do to contribute to help with storm relief, I was thinking about the month of November….. I know this post is really late in the day but time management has been whacked out around here lately and I  haven’t had the time to sit down, let alone get on the computer.  But it’s Tuesday Tunes-day and I’m staying on schedule.  I feel like I really should too because I want to honor Mrs. Donna Summer.  Cancer has taken yet another beloved musical artist since two weeks ago when we were dealing with the loss of MCA from the Beastie Boys. There are a lot of organizations in this world that need support and funding.  Are you involved in any of them?  Here’s one that you can participate in that will make a big difference.  This is PJ’s story.

Portrait of PJ Aldridge in Ocean City, MD - Summer 2010Every 2 1/2 minutes someone is diagnosed with lung cancer and every 3 minutes someone dies from it. Lung cancer receives the least amount of funding for research but yet is the most diagnosed cancer for both men and women. Being told that you have Stage IV lung cancer & only 3 months to live doesn’t give you a confident feeling that you can beat the odds. It doesn’t even seem realistic to someone who has lived a normal life & been extremely healthy throughout it. When you look at the statistics, PJ Aldridge should not be here with us still. Who is PJ you ask? PJ is a giving, sincere, genuine, loving, humble, admired, friend who acts as a breath of fresh air to anyone he is around. Read more →
